1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using ButterHabits ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. What ButterHabits provides

ButterHabits is an AI-supported habit-tracking application. Features may include habit planning, daily follow and break check-ins, independent reflections, triggers, recovery actions, reminders, rewards, progress analytics, AI chat, AI Review, cloud backup, export, and account services.

Core habit data is local-first. AI, authentication, automatic daily cloud backup, cloud restore, purchase validation, support, and other online services require an internet connection and may depend on third-party providers.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use ButterHabits. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you represent that a parent or guardian has permitted your use of the App.

4. Accounts, backups, and device security

Signing in is required for automatic daily cloud backup, manual cloud backup, cloud restore, password recovery, account deletion, and related account services. You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting your credentials, maintaining access to your email account, and keeping your device secure.

While you are signed in and online, the App attempts an automatic cloud backup once per day. A backup may be skipped when the latest cloud copy is already current, a backup already ran that day, data has not changed, the network is unavailable, or a service is temporarily unavailable.

Signing out stops automatic cloud backup on that device. Local data remains on the device unless you delete, replace, reset, or uninstall it. Cloud backup is intended to reduce the risk of data loss, but no backup system guarantees that every change will always be recoverable. Keep a manual export when the data is important to you, especially before resetting or replacing a device.

5. AI guidance

AI responses are generated automatically and may be incomplete, unsuitable, or incorrect. Review AI suggestions before acting on them and review drafts or requested changes before saving them to your habit data.

ButterHabits does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, nutritional, or other professional advice. Do not use AI guidance as a substitute for a qualified professional, emergency service, or your own judgment.

6. Free and paid access

ButterHabits may offer free access, trials, recurring subscriptions, or one-time purchases. The current feature limits, plan benefits, prices, billing periods, trial terms, taxes, and availability are shown in the App or the applicable app store at the time of purchase and may vary by platform or region.

Paid plans may include higher habit limits, stronger or more frequent AI access, AI Review, deeper analytics, App Lock, or other premium features displayed on the purchase screen. A feature is included only when the App or store listing says it is included in the plan you purchase.

7. Billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds

  • Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not directly by ButterHabits.
  • Recurring subscriptions renew according to the billing period and terms shown at purchase unless you cancel through the relevant app-store account.
  • A free or discounted trial may convert to a paid subscription when the purchase screen says so.
  • Cancellation stops future renewal. Access normally continues until the end of the current paid period, subject to the store's rules.
  • Uninstalling ButterHabits does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refund eligibility and processing are controlled by the relevant app store.
  • Restoring a purchase depends on the store account and purchase record used for the original transaction.

8. Your content and confirmations

You remain responsible for the habits, messages, notes, reflections, recovery actions, and other content you enter. You permit ButterHabits and its service providers to process that content only as needed to provide features you request.

Avoid entering unlawful content or sensitive personal information that is not necessary for habit tracking. Review imported data, backups, cloud restores, AI drafts, bulk actions, and settings changes before confirming them. A cloud restore or imported backup may replace current local app data.

9. Points and rewards

App points and Reward Points are part of the ButterHabits experience. They are not money, stored value, cryptocurrency, or redeemable for cash unless the App clearly states otherwise in a future feature and updated terms.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use ButterHabits for unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, or harmful activity
  • Attempt to bypass plan limits, confirmations, security, or service protections
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, disrupt, or interfere with the App or its services except where applicable law expressly permits it
  • Access another person's account, data, device, or backups without permission
  • Use automated systems to misuse AI, support, roadmap, account, or backup features

11. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how local app data, AI requests, accounts, cloud backups, purchases, permissions, communications, and website analytics are handled.

12. Intellectual property

ButterHabits, including its code, design, branding, text, and original product content, is owned by ButterHabits or its creator and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Third-party libraries, services, and content remain subject to their own licenses and terms.

13. Availability and changes

We may add, change, limit, pause, or remove features to improve the App, maintain security, control service costs, comply with platform requirements, or respond to technical constraints. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, permanent, or error-free availability of the App, AI services, cloud backups, or other online features.

14. Disclaimers

THE APP AND ITS SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE SPECIFIC HABIT, HEALTH, PRODUCTIVITY, BACKUP, DATA-RECOVERY, OR PERSONAL OUTCOMES.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUTTERHABITS AND ITS CREATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP OR ITS ONLINE SERVICES.

16. Suspension and termination

We may restrict or terminate access to online services when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risks, legal requirements, non-payment, or violations of these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time. Uninstalling the App does not automatically cancel subscriptions or delete account and cloud data.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as ButterHabits changes. Material updates will be communicated through the App or website when practical. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local consumer law applies.
